How many times have you read articles and listened to
lecturers issue the similar old stuff' -- ideas and tips that you've
heard over and over. You think to yourself, "This is a waste of time
-- I know this -- it's so basic." To this I say, "Sure you do, but are
you really DOING it? And are you taking these basic ideas and BUILDING
on them?"
As a direct marketing specialized for the past 20 years (and an
advisor for the past five), I sometimes think that I have built my
career on the ideas of others. But I truthfully believe that my keys
to success have been:
- The talent to recognize good ideas and actually realize
them.
- The ability to take thoughts to the 'next' level.

One of my business advisers was a Swedish Capitalist who built a
one billion dollar international direct marketing business. His most
much loved expression was, "There are no good ideas except you use
them." The translation is a little uncomfortable, but I think you get
the general idea.
Here are my next level tips for this issue:
PAY AFFILIATES ON TIME
Sure, everyone heard this one, but are you in reality doing it? Are
you the FIRST program to pay commissions from the previous month? If
you are, you certainly will be noticed and will most surely be
satisfied with greater exposure.
And how about this! Are you using this very helpful contact with your
creative affiliates to your advantage? After all, what is enhanced
than getting a check and these persons probably represent your top 5%
Plus, the sad truth is that most of your email promotions are not
read. And many of your affiliates, including fruitful ones, have opted
out from even getting them. This get in touch with may be your best
opportunity to regularly communicate with your creative affiliates.
So make utilize of this opportunity and include other material that
supports and builds on your connection. When an affiliate accepts
their first commission check, I like to take in a letter of thanks and
congratulations that is hand-signed by the Leader or CEO. There should
also be a letter from you, the Affiliate Program Executive, in every
commission check envelope. This should include many of the things that
you normally find in affiliate newsletters, like what are the recent
hot sellers and extraordinary promotions.
But the explanation here is to make your fruitful affiliates feel
truly special. Therefore, it is important for you to include
impressive just for them (not offered to non-productive affiliates).
This can be a free gift or a gift certificate for your site (and I
mean a genuine gift certificate, not save $5 when you buy at least
$20). Or make bigger a special, private offer that boosts their
commissions. Structure it any way that you feel easy with, the
important thing is that you identify and reward their presentations.
And do not forget to continue to teach your fruitful affiliates about
your company. From time to time, include brochures or even an annual
report, so they increase an appreciation for your company’s mission.
Fruitful affiliates are your most important asset -- make them believe
like they are your colleague.
